Silicon Valley is known by most as being the center of high-tech innovation and development. Silicon Valley is home to numerous technology corporations and an ever-growing population of start up companies. It is an area that is fast paced and packed with people. But did you know that in Sunnyvale, in the heart of Silicon Valley, lives a retreat for families to escape the city and the hubbub? A place where children can feel free, unplug, and connect with nature? Where anyone can feel successful and everyone is invited?
This happy place may not be a secret to you, but after living in Sunnyvale for 7 years it has only just come to my attention. Having two children myself, I am always wondering what to do with them, how to explore with them, how to expose them to new things, and how to keep them busy and having fun. I wish I had known about Full Circle Farm sooner! Full Circle Farm is 11 acres nestled in the heart of Silicon Valley. It is open to the public and is community run and cared for. In partnership with Santa Clara Unified School District and Sustainable Community Gardens (a nonprofit organization), it is well on its way to giving thousands of people in our community the chance to experience the empowerment of planting, caring for, harvesting, and eating one’s own food as well as learning about the environment and sustainability.
After visiting Full Circle Farm for the first time, I immediately fell in love. It surrounds you with a sense of calm and a loving, caring community. I knew right away that the farm and I were meant to meet and that I could not stay away. It was a place I must announce to the world and connect more children with. Little Seeds Workshop had found a perfect NEW venue! So, the secret is out: Little Seeds Workshop, in partnership with Full Circle Farm, is happy to announce we will be offering classes at the farm! It is the perfect location to continue our work with toddlers/ preschoolers and their caretakers in the Bay Area.
We will be meeting in their onsite greenhouse for weekly classes for our Winter Session, on Wednesday and Friday mornings, and exploring their beautiful children's garden and working farm as part of our curriculum. We are beyond excited and hope that you will join us for this special Winter Session we're calling, Greenhouse Heroes! For more information, a schedule of classes and the topics we'll be covering, please visit us online. The secret is out, so spread the news! We wish you a happy, healthy, nature-filled year and encourage you and your Little Seeds to get outside and begin the year anew.
How will you connect your children with nature in 2017?
